Gearmotor: A gearhead and motor combination to reduce the speed of the motor to obtain the desired speed or torque.
General Purpose Motor: A general-purpose motor is any motor having an NA B design, listed and offered in standard ratings, with standard operating characteristics and mechanical construction for use under usual service conditions without restriction to a particular application or type of application (NEMA).
Gray Code: Unit-distance code system in which only one code signal changes with the transition from one measuring step to the next.
Grounded Motor: A motor with an electrical connection between the motor frame and ground.
Guarded Motor: An open motor in which all openings giving direct access to live or rotating parts (except smooth shafts) are limited in size by the design of the structural parts or by screens, grills, expanded metal, etc., to prevent accidental contact with such parts. Such openings shall not permit the passage of a cylindrical rod 1/2-inch in diameter.
